The new IRiS – EAF/LAF Regulator can start offering significant savings on energy and consumables from the day the system is put into operation.

The IRiS-regulator is implemented on a standard PLC platform (typically Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi etc.) Well developed and fully tested hardware from the largest suppliers in the market is used. Easy access to spare parts, support, reasonable prices and the best system availability is guaranteed. If a new HMI is required this is can usually be supplied utilising the client’s favoured SCADA system or be built into an existing system controlling the furnace.
Stability of control is the prime condition for the consumption figures to be kept at a minimum. This can offer savings on refractories, graphite consumption, process time and energy consumption. This ensures that the arc furnace is operating in a fast, efficient manner and reduces your environmental impact. Of course, saved process time allows the possibility of increased production. Due to the unique dynamic gain control algorithm used the regulator will always be robust.

With the IRiS-regulator the end user has the opportunity to make future enhancements as the system is completely open - there are no hidden or locked blocks.
In addition the system can be adapted to the customer's specific requirements with advanced functions such as dynamic power uniformity, dynamic correction of power in a hot-spot (if water cooled panels with temperature measurements are used) and power demand limitations from the supply utility or the energy price level is too high etc.
