Inspec Solutions have been awarded two contracts to upgrade the whole of Corus’ Appleby Coke Ovens Battery and By-Products Plant control systems. Four Ferranti DCS systems will be replaced by two large dual redundant Rockwell Controllogix PLC Systems, an Intouch application alongside two SQL database systems providing historical logging and data storage, reports and analysis of plant operation will provide the graphical front end of the systems. The SCADA systems will have in total 20 Intouch nodes for viewing and reporting across two control rooms, maintenance personnel and managers and engineers offices off plant. In addition, across the two systems there will be 7 SLC and 2 Controllogix Rockwell systems and 27 Eurotherm Loop Controllers to be integrated into the scheme.

Inspec have been awarded a contract to design and supply a control system to automate a machine injecting carbon into an electric arc furnace at Celsa Steels’ new melt shop in Cardiff. The system will be integrated into the whole plant control system by Inspec Solutions, which is based on Siemens S7 PLC’s and WinCC SCADA systems.

Inspec Solutions have now relocated from Globe Works into a new building in the Broomhill area of the city, this marks 5 years since the original start up and allows Inspec’s gradual expansion to continue in the large Victorian Villa which has been specially converted and extended for office space.
