Inspec Solutions provides Allen Bradley/National Instruments based Forging Press Control System Upgrade for a major Forging Manufacturer.
The new Forging Press control system is based on an Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC and National Instruments high speed interface equipment with an RSView32 SCADA system.
The new control system replaced an existing Opto22 based system and replicated the operating system requirements of the Forging Press.
The whole system, including the electrical, PLC and SCADA systems were designed to look as close as possible to the exsiting Press design to allow ease of support, maintenance and operations as all technical and operations staff had become used to a common look of the interface for the control screens.
The system entirely replaced the existing Forging Press control system which had become difficult to support and could not provide the level of diagnostic information now required to meet this clients higher quality standards imposed by their own customers.
Inspec Solutions utilised the existing panels on site to locate the new equipment. This enabled significant savings and benefits as the re-use of the existing field cabling and terminations greatly reducing the potential risk during commissioning and keeping the changeover down-time to a minimum.
The RSView32 SCADA system contained displays to control the Forging Press and runs on two new HMI terminals located in the control cabin desk.
